I need law advice... details accompanying?

I received a couple of speeding tickets and took them to a lawyer in Missouri. I paid him to go to court to have them "taken care of" and received a receipt of my payment. The lawyer apparently skipped out on his duties and now i have a couple of warrants out for my arrest. Today I received a citation for a taillight being out and the officer took my liscense. Im uming when I go to court for this I will be arrested. What are my options? Can i just pay the old fines to get rid of the warrants or is there another way I will have to go about this? Any advice from lawyers as well as citizens who have been in similar situations would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
