I am looking for an APBT?

I want a dog to love and be loved back. i was abused physically and emotionally, and as pit bulls are the least understood dog of all, I would like to get one, so i can show people what a greta pet they are, how should I get one? I have looked at shelters but i am looking for a young one so i can socialize it well
